Pricing for Faculty & Students:
Standard TAT = $0.85 per minute
Expedited TAT = $1.00 per minute
Rush TAT = $1.20 per minute
Discounts: There are discounts of 15% to 25% for CUNY students and faculty members due to usual budgetary constraints. This applies to all digital interview recordings.
Transcript Accuracy: We do not use machine transcription as it defeats the purpose of transcribing real-world interviews for qualitative research. We are subject-matter expert transcribers who ensure a minimum quality standard of 99%. Our multi-step process ensures that each transcript is checked by more eyes and ears to ensure a better quality transcript. We also do any research required for technical terms and acronyms.
Delivery: For bulk orders under the standard TAT, there is a delivery limit of up to 15 to 20 hours of transcripts per week, 4 hours or 50 files per day (approximately). The deliveries will be staggered over a number of days depending on the total number of audio interviews uploaded.
Payment: We accept payment via all major credit cards (powered by Stripe), bank transfers, ACH and Paypal. Depending on transcription project type, payment can be prepaid, partly paid or paid upon completion. You can also pay in advance/buy transcription credit which comes with a discount and does not expire. Contact us to know more about buying transcription credits.
Languages: We transcribe and translate in 20+ languages using native speakers. For more information or a quote on a particular language please contact us.
File Upload: Audio interviews can be uploaded via our website order page or via Qualtranscribe's secure Sharefile account which will be created for you. Files and links can also be shared from Google Drive, Dropbox, Box, Whatsapp, etcetera.
Confidentiality: Maintaining confidentiality of all transcription files is our highest priority. Access to the files is restricted strictly on a need-to-know basis. Qualtranscribe works with a wide range of documents, some of which will be private, personal or confidential in nature. We hold our staff to high confidentiality standards, established by the general university system. To fulfill IRB ethics requirements, an NDA is always available upon request. Yet to conduct your research interviews? Here are some tips!
1. Speak clearly. Speak at good level volume. Do not speak in a rushed or hurried voice or mumble. Speak quietly. Have people speak one at a time.
2. For digital or tape recorders, record on fast speed or high quality setting. This makes a clearer recording but uses more memory or tape.
3. Record in a quiet environment. Be aware of background noise from others, air conditioning, fans, music, and other sources.
4. In groups of two or more, make sure each person can be heard equally well. Use recording system with multiple microphones in large groups to ensure you can hear each individual.
5. Use a microphone near the speaker. If the speaker will move around, use a wired or wireless lapel microphone.
6. Only have one microphone or recorder? If possible, have all persons speaking the same distance from the recorder. If that is not possible, place it nearest to the most important part of the conversation or point it in that direction.
7. During question/answer sessions, have people come to a house microphone or bring a wireless microphone to them before they ask their question. Alternatively, have the person answering questions repeat the question so it is captured on the recorded audio.
8. Use good quality equipment made for the number of people you are recording. Alternatively, if you are conducting interviews online eg. Zoom, WebEx, GoToMeeting, Skype, make sure you have a good internet connection.
9. Keep recorder going (turned on and recording) well before people talk.
11. In large groups, have each person state their name before talking if they need to be accurately identified. Provide agenda.
12. Provide lists of speakers, agendas for meetings, and other references as available to us so that we can create better annotated, ordered transcripts from your audio.
